Into the Blue at the Hamilton Children's Museum

The Hamilton Children’s Museum has a brand-new addition, and the design is bright, cheery and eye-catching. But what inspired the colourful design?
The original red brick heritage house with blue trim sits on the north-east corner of Gage Park, surrounded by trees and views of the escarpment to the south. The new addition references the massing of the original building but incorporates the colours of the sky and sun.
Inspired by child-like drawings, variegated cerulean blue bricks are like clouds moving across a summer sky. Fresh yellow echoes a yellow summer sun.

The interior spaces are inspired by nature surrounding the museum: trees and bugs and letting the inside lead to fun outside.
The Hamilton Children’s Museum is a bright new welcoming space for everyone and shows that not all buildings need to be brown or grey. Come to the museum a for a visit and enjoy the colours. Take a walk in Gage Park to see the gardens and trees and to hear the birdsong.
Admission is free to anyone living in Hamilton with a library card. Hamilton Children’s Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday 10am-4pm.
