Gas Stations

Over the years Brightside had several gas stations. Americo’s Garage at 890 Burlington Street (Americo Yachetti prop.) provided auto service and gas to the neighbourhood but it faced stiff competition when Stelco opened its own Steline Gas station just across the street.

There was a lot of politics. 

For instance, we had a garage there called Americo’s garage.

What does Stelco do? They built one right across the road. 

Speaker 2:    

Yes. 

Steline Gas.

Steline Gas… 

Speaker 3:    

Put them out of business. 

Speaker 1:    

…at half price they’d sell it. 

Right across the road. 

Lotta politics there, boy.
